미국의 대중음악 잡지 롤링 스톤이 2017년 선정한 가장 위대한 메탈 음반의 순위이다.

평론가들의 이견이 없이 메탈로 분류되는 앨범들만 선정한 것이 특징이다. 그렇기에 하드 록인지 메탈인지 논쟁이 치열한 레드 제플린이나 딥 퍼플, 그리고 AC/DC 등의 아티스트들의 명반들은 선정되지 않았다.

음악 팬들의 여론이 괜찮은 몇 안 되는 롤링 스톤의 리스트이며, 실망스러운 평가를 받고 있는 롤링 스톤의 여타 리스트들과는 달리 괜찮은 리스트라는 평가가 많다.
