P-40 워호크는 이전의 커티스 P-36 호크 모델을 기반으로 제작되었으며, 북아프리카와 중동 군사 작전에서 첫선을 보인 후 2차 세계대전 중 연합군이 주로 사용했습니다. 일부 루프트바페 메서슈미트 Bf 110 쌍발 전투기를 모방하여 비행기 앞부분에 그려진 상어 입 모양 마킹이 큰 특징입니다. P-40는 비행 속도를 높여 주는 두 개의 속도 과급기가 없었기 때문에 포케불프 Fw 190, 메서슈미트 Bf 109 같은 여러 독일 전투기에 비해 열세를 면치 못했습니다.

The P-40 Warhawk was based on the previous Curtiss P-36 Hawk model and used mostly by Allied powers during World War II, making its first appearance in North African and Middle East campaigns. It's most known for the iconic shark mouth logo that was painted on the nose of the plane to mimic similar markings on some Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 110 twin-engine fighters. Because the P-40 lacked a two-speed supercharger to allow it to fly faster, it was inferior to many of the German fighters such as the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and the Messerschmitt Bf 109.
