1997년 발표된 라디오헤드의 3집 OK Computer의 아홉 번째 트랙으로 수록된 곡.

2. 상세

톰 요크가 정신병원에서 근무한 경험과, 연쇄 살인범에 대한 뉴욕 타임즈 기사의 영향을 바탕으로 작곡한 곡이다.

벌레같은 앰비언트 잡음과 메탈릭한 드럼이 특징인 곡으로, 샘플링한 앰비언트 사운드, 왜곡된(distorted) 드럼 소리, 그리고 조니가 현대 클래식 작곡가 크시슈토프 펜데레츠키의 '히로시마 전몰자에게 바치는 애가'에서 영향을 받아 만든 현악 부분 등으로 이루어졌다.

'벽장 속의 괴물'에 대한 가사는 평범한 사람들이 한순간에 비뚤어져 어떻게 끔찍한 일을 저지르게 되는지를 은유한다.

미니디스크로 공개된 제작 초기의 데모 버전에서는 통기타 한 대만 들어간 미니멀한 구성이었다.
